At Camino Real Trucking School, we offer comprehensive training for both Class A and Class B Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDL). Our full-time CDL training programs typically span 4 to 6 weeks, totaling 160 hours of instruction. This includes classroom education, yard skills training, and on-road driving experience. We also offer flexible part-time options to accommodate different schedules.
To enroll in our CDL training programs, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old (21 for interstate driving)
- Possess a valid California driver’s license
- Have a clean driving record
- Pass a DOT physical examination and drug test
- Provide a Social Security number

While it’s possible to obtain a CDL without formal schooling, attending a certified trucking school like Camino Real provides structured training, hands-on experience, and preparation for the CDL skills test, significantly increasing your chances of success.
Class A CDL: Allows you to operate combination vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 pounds or more. This includes tractor-trailers and large trucks.
Class B CDL: Permits you to operate a single vehicle with a GCWR of 26,001 pounds or more, or a vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds. This is suitable for buses and straight trucks.
After obtaining your base CDL, you can add endorsements for specialized driving:
- T: Double/Triple Trailers
- P: Passenger
- S: School Bus
- H: Hazardous Materials
- N: Tank Vehicles
Each endorsement requires additional testing and training.
